Explore the Eiffel Tower: Key Attractions & Advice

The Iconic Eiffel Tower of Paris

The Eiffel Tower, an emblem of Paris, never fails to impress, even for those who have only seen it on postcards. Standing at a height of 324 meters, this architectural marvel consists of 18,000 iron parts and 2.5 million rivets, yet it appears as delicate as a ballerina. Its nickname, the "Iron Lady," reflects its sturdy yet elegant structure.

Eiffel Tower

Originally built as the entrance arch for the 1889 Exposition Universelle (World's Fair), the Eiffel Tower was designed by Gustave Eiffel and his team, winning a competition to create a centerpiece for the fair. Although intended to last only 20 years, it has become a permanent and iconic part of the Paris skyline. For those visiting Paris, car rentals are readily available for convenience at competitive rates.
